We left Austin a day early. Our traveling is taking more time than we had anticipated, and rain was forcast, so we headed out and spent last night in Beaumont, Texas. When we drove through Houston we noticed a lot of water standing under bridges, then we heard there was flooding there due to the rain. But, we're in Mississippi now and the sky is blue and the humidity has dropped some.
Coming through New Orleans we noticed a lot of damage still there, especially on the east side of town. There were miles of homes destroyed and standing vacant. Some really nice homes and some apartments and some older homes. All were affected. It is a shame!
We have gone over so many swamps and other bodies of water today. It's no wonder that Lousiana and Mississippi floods a lot. We're on bridges, long, 10 mile bridges, a lot today.
